"Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can." Arthur ashe

Hello and welcome to my blog!

With this first post, I will do my best to explain how this blog came to be and its purposes.

How this blog came to be

Originally, the idea of creating a blog never crossed my mind. To me, a blog was created by people who were masters of both the internet and the subjects they wanted to share. It wasn't until a couple weeks ago, after I completed my first year of college, that my mindset changed.

My first year of college exposed me to the truths behind our modern education system, different teaching styles, how to use technology in a classroom, and the importance of early childhood education and development. I now understand that many of today's children are not brought up in classroom's that properly support their growing minds, and that the decisions parents and educators make can either shape or destroy their development.

As April came to a close, I asked myself, "What can I do to spread awareness about the realities of education?" Although creating a blog seemed daunting at the time, I realized it was the option I needed to take with the resources I had been given. In the end, a blog does not have to be perfect -- it just needs to get your point across.

THe purpose of this blog

Through this blog, I hope to convey the many lessons I have learned through my college education and to share my experiences as a college student studying early childhood education. I hope to spread awareness about our faulty education systems; the solution to a more supportive, equity-based education and curriculum styles; the importance of the early years on overall development and success; and the importance of a high-quality education in becoming a successful teacher.

Every Tuesday, I will be posting new content on this page, so stop by every week to learn something new!

I can't wait to kick start this new and exciting journey with you!

Great start to your blog! I’m looking forward to more of your comments and insights. One idea would be to talk about the challenges of distance learning for pre-school kids and how it could affect their development.

Great idea and goal, Meghan. I'm looking forward to reading your blog regularly. I know that there is a lot of research about the long term benefits of quality early childhood education. I hope you will be sharing those data. Keep up the good work!
